This summer, Kateřina Kněžíková shone in the United Kingdom, where critics hailed her as a successor to the legendary Gabriela Beňačková. She then appeared at the Dvořák Prague Festival and now heads south to Madrid, where she will make her debut with the Symphony Orchestra and Choir of Spanish Radio and Television (Orquesta Sinfónica y Coro RTVE). The concerts, conducted by the orchestra’s music director Jaime Martín, will take place on October 30 and 31, 2025, at 7:30 pm at Madrid’s Teatro Monumental.
On the program is Johannes Brahms’ monumental German Requiem, Op. 45, in which Kateřina Kněžíková will be joined by acclaimed baritone Christian Immler.
“The German Requiem is one of the most profound spiritual works of the Romantic repertoire. It is music that brings both solace and catharsis, and for me personally it is a great honor to sing it here in Madrid with such an outstanding orchestra and choir,” says Kateřina Kněžíková.
Founded in 1965, the RTVE Symphony Orchestra and Choir is one of Spain’s leading symphonic and vocal ensembles and performs regularly in live broadcasts of RTVE public television and radio.
Before her Madrid debut, Kateřina Kněžíková will appear on several prestigious Czech stages: on September 25 at the opening concert of the 80th season of the Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, on October 7 at Prague’s Rudolfinum in the opening concert of the Prague Philharmonic Choir’s 91st season in Stravinsky’s Les Noces, and on October 18 and November 22 at the Janáček Theatre in Brno as Jenůfa in Janáček’s Jenůfa.
