We are excited to announce the appointment of Jakub Hrůša as Principal Guest Conductor of the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia from the 2021/22 season.

The appointment follows a number of highly successful appearances by Hrůša in recent seasons, and signifies the close bond that has developed between conductor and orchestra.  Since his debut in 2016, Hrůša has been re-invited by the orchestra every season, and earlier this month was given the honour of conducting a special concert at Rome’s Quirinale Palace to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Italian Republic.

The first year of Hrůša’s tenure as Principal Guest Conductor will see him lead the orchestra’s season-opening and season-closing weeks, and subsequent years will feature touring and other special projects in addition to regular appearances on the orchestra’s main subscription series.

Jakub Hrůša also currently serves as Chief Conductor of the Bamberg Symphony and Principal Guest Conductor of the Czech Philharmonic, and continues to maintain a busy schedule of guest-conducting with the most renowned orchestras in Europe, North America and Asia.  The recent months have seen appearances with the Vienna Philharmonic, Bavarian Radio Symphony and Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, and upcoming engagements include the Dresden Staatskapelle, Berlin Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony and The Cleveland Orchestra as well as a return to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden for Lohengrin.
